three little fits (2010) The photos of the dancers’ gestures are edited in chronological order to create a moving sequence. The video explores themes of Rage associated with Love, and embodies stages in a girl’s quest for Love. Frustration fuels rejection of typical behaviors associated with Love. Anger turns to agency. Peeling out of her skin she is her platinum ponytails, smokey-eyed seductress, red-lipped leathered-lady. The video reveals a cartoon-like female, stark, sexy, comical, unsettling. A woman. Irate. On the edge of her chair, coming undone. She realizes the ability to get, feel, and be loved comes from the ultimate Love of Self.

Pervers Comme le Ciel Bleu (Perverted Like the Blue Sky) – Dance Video 2009

This dance video was shot in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, July 2009, in a beautiful brownstone apartment where I spent six weeks.
Alyson’s new dance solo, Pervers Comme le Ciel Bleu (Perverted Like the Blue Sky) 2009, continues questioning the transient nature of a lifespan this time investigating the role of the individual within society. The dance relates the past, present and future of a single person and their experience in the world, melding childhood memories with adulthood realizations.
The dance performance was presented in Festival Transatlatique Montréal, September 2009 in at MdC Côte des Neiges, in Montréal and at The Dance Center, in Vancouver.

This photo series is used in the live performance of Pervers Comme le Ciel Bleu, as bigger than life size video projections on the back wall of the stage. The character in the photo series magnifies stereotyped personalities, normalcy is questioned, and the perversity within each persona is exposed. In this way we may view ourselves among existing personas woven within the fabric of society.

Pervers Comme le Ciel Bleu (Perverted Like the Blue Sky) reflects personas in society that we may take for granted, take on, put on, or take no notice of. Social outcasts, criminals, lost souls, religious figures, revolutionaries, dictators, politicians, proletariat, pop stars, the girl-next-door… cracked, nervy, unhinged… Ultimately, underneath the layers, we see that all humanity is woven from the same fabric.
